Effective January 1, 2006.","effective":"2006-01-01","html":"<p>(a) A district that acquires, constructs, improves, and maintains streets, roads, rights-of-way, bridges, culverts, drains, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and any incidental work pursuant to subdivision (l) of Section <a href=\"/gov/61100\">61100</a> may grant franchises pursuant to any of the following:</p><p>(1) Section <a href=\"/gov/53066\">53066</a>.</p><p>(2) Chapter 6 (commencing with Section 49500) of Part 8 of Division 30 of the Public Resources Code.</p><p>(3) Division 3 (commencing with Section <a href=\"/gov/6001\">6001</a>) of the Public Utilities Code.</p><p>(b) A district shall not grant a franchise over any work owned by another public agency unless that other public agency gives its consent.</p>","text":"(a) A district that acquires, constructs, improves, and maintains streets, roads, rights-of-way, bridges, culverts, drains, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and any incidental work pursuant to subdivision (l) of Section 61100 may grant franchises pursuant to any of the following: (1) Section 53066.
