Section operative July 1, 2012, by its own provisions.","effective":"2012-01-01","html":"<p>(a) A motor vehicle sold or leased by a new motor vehicle dealer shall be registered by the dealer using electronic programs provided by a qualified private industry partner pursuant to Section <a href=\"/veh/1685\">1685</a> if the department permits the transaction to be processed electronically.</p><p>(b) This section does not apply to the sale or lease of a motorcycle or off-highway motor vehicle subject to identification under Section <a href=\"/veh/38010\">38010</a> or a recreational vehicle as defined in Section <a href=\"/hsc/18010\">18010</a> of the Health and Safety Code.</p><p>(c) This section shall become operative on July 1, 2012.</p>","text":"(a) A motor vehicle sold or leased by a new motor vehicle dealer shall be registered by the dealer using electronic programs provided by a qualified private industry partner pursuant to Section 1685 if the department permits the transaction to be processed electronically.
