(a) The California Housing Finance Agency is hereby continued in existence in the California Housing and Homelessness Agency. The agency constitutes a public instrumentality and a political subdivision of the state, and the exercise by the agency of the powers conferred by this division shall be deemed and held to be the performance of an essential public function.

(b) This section shall become operative on July 1, 2026.

The agency constitutes a public instrumentality and a political subdivision of the state, and the exercise by the agency of the powers conferred by this division shall be deemed and held to be the performance of an essential public function.

(b) This section shall become inoperative on July 1, 2026, and, as of January 1, 2027, is repealed.
